New Ideas for Starter after the StratHack x SKB Hackathon
How can we encourage people who have once taken part in an event organised by Starter to continue working with us? How can we measure the long-term impact of development projects? How can we build and maintain relationships with students between consecutive initiatives?
This was the challenge that Starter presented to students during the StratHack x SKB hackathon, organised by the Strateg Student Research Association and the Student Business Club at the University of Gdańsk. This time, we joined the event as a challenge partner.
At Starter, we have been organising innovathons, development programmes and events for years, bringing together young people, business, experts and institutions. We work with companies, create space for testing ideas, and show that entrepreneurship begins with action. By taking part in StratHack x SKB, we had the opportunity to see how the participants of our initiatives would approach our challenge.
Two Teams, Two Perspectives on Starter’s Challenge
After the hackathon, we met at Starter to learn more about the solutions developed by the teams that had chosen our challenge. The meeting was attended by representatives of Starter, as well as members of the University of Gdańsk student research associations: the Strateg Student Research Association and the Student Business Club.
The first team presented a prototype of StarterApp – a tool that could support participants in discovering events. The second team presented the concept of Starter Compass, a platform designed to manage the participant journey, engage users in further activities and introduce elements of gamification. Starter Compass was the winning project of the hackathon.
We appreciate the fresh perspective and readiness to experiment. The solutions presented showed an ability to identify problems, look for answers and create value for users.
Cooperation with University of Gdańsk Student Research Associations
We see the relationship established with the Strateg Student Research Association and the Student Business Club as an important step in building a bridge between the university, students and business practice.
We want to continue this cooperation. We see great potential in activities that allow students to work on real-life challenges and experience entrepreneurship in practice.
Inspiration from a Young Entrepreneur

FutureYou is a platform concept that turns everyday self-development into a documented and verifiable process. Its aim is to support users in setting monthly goals, documenting progress and building consistency in action.
Klub Konektor, in turn, is a community focused on relationships, future skills and stepping out of one’s comfort zone. An important element of the project is bringing young people together regularly around one table – to talk about their interests, share perspectives and build relationships.
Student Entrepreneurship in Practice
StratHack x SKB showed that cooperation between organisations such as Starter, student research associations and students has a strong future. For us, this is only the beginning of the conversation. We want to support initiatives that combine education, business and young talent – because this is where ideas are born that can contribute to the development of entrepreneurship.
