Starter Girl Hack – three days of technology, collaboration and inspiration for girls
May 4 marks the start of Starter Girl Hack, a hackathon for girls and young women who want to develop technological competence, test themselves in teamwork and see how new technologies can help solve real-world challenges. The event will run until May 6, 2026, and will be held at STARTER‘s headquarters .
Starter Girl Hack is not only an intensive work on ideas. It’s also a space to gain knowledge, talk to experts and build confidence in the world of technology. Participants will work in teams, generate ideas, develop solutions, prepare presentations and perform in front of a jury during the hackathon finale.
The first day of the event will be devoted to integration, networking and team assignment. Participants will learn about the principles of the project and participate in a streaming session with Agnieszka Cichocka from CreativeTechPoland.
On Tuesday, May 5, the intensive workshop and design part will begin. After morning registration and breakfast, the hackathon is scheduled to open with an introduction to the rules and topics. Participants will then take part in a workshop on idea generation and teamwork led by Alicja Switlik. A presentation on artificial intelligence by Kamil Bakierzynski of Dynatrace will also be an important highlight. In the afternoon, the teams will work on their solutions with the support of experts, including Karolina Linda from Dynatrace, Katarzyna Lilli Czerska and Zuzanna Zając from Boeing, and Joanna Grzyba from the Gdansk City Hall.
On the last day, May 6, participants will develop their projects with the help of mentors. Marcin Jewartowski from Gdansk University of Technology will also join the group of experts. After the project part, a lecture on pitching is scheduled, which will be given by Julia Halemba from STARTER. Then the teams will prepare their presentations, and at 16:00 the grand finale – speeches in front of the jury – will begin. The hackathon will end with the presentation of awards and acknowledgements.
Initiatives such as Starter Girl Hack are of great importance in strengthening the presence of girls and young women in the technology industry. Programming, artificial intelligence, solution design or problem analysis are areas where different perspectives, experiences and ways of thinking are needed. The Hackathon shows that technology is for everyone – and that the first step into the world of IT can start with cooperation, curiosity and the courage to act.
Starter Girl Hack is three days of inspiration, hands-on learning and building girls’ technological prowess. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for the participants and their ideas!
